When he’s not sucking up to First Lady Michelle Obama by paving over potholes in advance of her arrival, he apparently is busy sucking up to illegal immigrants – just like his muse, President Obama.
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is pushing a plan that would allow illegal immigrants in his state to be awarded the tuition rate at colleges typically granted to actual state residents – and it’s based on the President’s own pro-amnesty angle.
Via the New York Times:
Thousands of illegal immigrants living in Massachusetts can qualify for state resident tuition rates at state colleges, under a policy laid out on Monday by Gov. Deval Patrick — another shift in the fast-changing mosaic of states’ policies toward that population.
The shift builds on the Obama administration policy, adopted in June, that the federal government will not seek to deport most young immigrants who, as children, were either brought to the United States illegally or kept here illegally. The Massachusetts policy applies to that same group.
Notice how the Times article leaves the word ‘illegal’ out of their headline, despite its relevance to the article information.
The savings being afforded the illegal immigrants is substantial, with in-state residents at one Massachusetts college being charged $13,230, while out of state residents pay nearly double.
Essentially, people having entered the country (let alone the state) illegally can now attain tuition rates that actual American citizens from outside of Massachusetts would not be privy to.
